Today’s challenge, to write a poem based on a word featured in a tweet from Haggard Hawks, an account devoted to obscure and interesting English words.
I chose Glisk, which is a brief glimpse of warm sunshine, for no other reason than he posted that one on my birthday and I took a matching photograph today.
Dragon’s breath rising in front of Welsh quarried cold blue slates,
Distorted, unfocussed, dripping over the eaves,
They cling to the overnight frost.
Berberis buds in bloom,
Canary bubbles froth between sage winged moths,
A momentary glisk illuminates the fullness of Spring
Lovely combination of image, words and imagery!

So long as you don’t dig it up – the spines are nasty.

I, too, loved the line “Berberis buds in bloom”. The alliteration is just as if you can feel the buds blooming!

Thank you, I think I was fortunate to get up when I did, read the prompt and look out of the window.

And soon Glisk will extend into something longer. I have no word for that, “dwelling ____”
