From Fromage with love

NAPOWRIMO 2024, Day 14

Today’s prompt asks us to write a poem of at least ten lines in which each line begins with the same word.

This technique is called anaphora, and has long been used to give poems a driving rhythm and/or a sense of puzzlebox mystery.

You might say I slept with this one.

…….

Cheese is – when blue veins speak to the soul in salty salivating conversations

Cheese is – knowing the difference between eating and of sharing secret intimate soirées with magnificent morsels of joy

Cheese is – when your tongue takes its seat in Exclusive Class of the Pulman Carriage

Cheese is – that low-light evening when Salome invites your taste buds to an exquisite and very personal dance

Cheese is – the visceral tsunami caused by your mind creating phantastical adjectives born for that moment only

Cheese is – palpitations forged by the desperate search for Ochum’s razor in the kitchen drawer

Cheese is – an all encompassing embrace delivered of kaleidoscopic songs sung by milky sirens

Cheese is – the guiltless, satisfying realisation that sharing with family or friends is simply no longer an option

Cheese is – sensual pyrotechnics for the mind

Cheese is – just so much better than sex!

  1. Graham, your poem has me drooling! If I had to choose one food only, it would be cheese, even over chocolate! I love the phrases ‘blue veins speak to the soul in salty salivating conversations’ and ‘sensual pyrotechnics for the mind’.
