What is it good for?

After Pablo Picasso – art ally

Today’s challenge? To write our own poem that describes a detail in a painting, and that begins, like Auden’s poem, with a grand, declarative statement.

I chose to look at Picasso’s Guernica, to reflect on current issues and paint it with appropriate colours.

Art only works if you invert its meaning.
See the sacred cow’s head, smell the baby that’s dead;
Then listen to the trans women screaming.

They say the sense of art is all in the reading.
Like when fascists drop bombs and law gets it wrong,
Leaving all women to drown in their bleeding.

War – what is it good for?

Say it again.

War – what is it good for?

Say it again

Say it again!

Say it again…………….
