While looking back over the hordes of photos I have stored on my PC I was struck by how easy we confine memories and experiences to the digital past and, how poignant they can be when you open them up and see faces that have been buried in the shadows of experience – so I wrote this.
Fragments, jigsaw pieces of a broken mosaic memory.
Flickering memes, conjuring whiffs of laughter, swatch books of joy coloured by faded sadness.
Holes you’d like to fill, gaps you’re glad to have, spaces full of questions.
Faces as recipes, some sweet, some sour, some umami.
Savour the essence, stand still in the kitchen of life and the living.
Close your eyes,
Turn off the light,
Close the door.
