NaPoWriMo 2023, Day 13
Today’s prompt invited us to write a short poem (or a few, if inspired) that follows the beats of a classic joke. Emphasize the interplay between the form of the poem – such as the line breaks – and the punchline.
The topic of the first one seems to be running around my head at the moment.
I tried three variations, please let me know if they raised a smile or two.
……………………………………………………………………..
Tik Tok!
Who stares?
Myspace!
Myspace who?
Right back at you!
+++++
How many lightbulbs does it take to change a poet?
None.
Then one.
And if the line is true,
Then two.
Then, when the stanza is set free,
Three.
These thoughts are yours now,
So, if you want more,
Go change number four.
+++++
Why would we question the perambulation of a domesticated bird?
It’s ridiculous, totally absurd.
It has no reason, and it doesn’t rhyme.
Just like this conclusion.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
All three made me chuckle. The second one is favourite:)
